Anita Rookard is a developer, a coach, and a trainer of people. Currently, the Director of Human Resources for the Augusta, Georgia municipal government. Her strategic approach has been pivotal in enhancing talent acquisition, employee relations, and development. With a bachelor’s degree in International Business from Converse College (University) and a minor in French, Anita received her MBA in International Business and Human Resource Management and MPA in Public Administration from DeVry University. Her focus remains on driving HR strategies that resonate with organizational goals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and nurturing a culture of continuous learning and development. Currently a member of the Augusta Rotary Club and the Augusta-Richmond library Board, she has also served on the Jesse Norman Parent Board. Anita believes in encouraging, supporting, and enhancing the lives of others.

James Allen, a former member of SHRM’s Augusta Board, is a retired attorney who spent 35 years working in employment law, beginning in large firms representing employers in Atlanta and Seattle, and eventually working in his own firm representing both employers and employees. He was presenting seminars on ADA and workplace disability before the ADA was even in force. Later in his career, he worked as a trial attorney for the Savannah EEOC office, so he has experience representing employees, employers, and the government in dealing with disability issues in the workplace. Now, he has an even more complete view of the disability work situation, having been diagnosed four years ago with Parkinson’s Disease. James is the President of the CSRA Parkinson’s Support Group, as well as an ambassador with the Davis Phinney Foundation.
